Finn Fest & Bridge Fest

Every year, the town we live in holds a Finn fest in honor of the Finnish heritage in this part of the country.  This year, Houghton/Hancock, MI happened to be selected as host for the nation's annual  Finn Fest.  It also happened to fall on the same weekend as the town's Bridge Fest.  Yes, the people here actually celebrate the huge lift bridge that connects us to the rest of the Upper Peninsula.

It was muggy and humid on the day of the parade, but it was goot to get out and see how these towns celebrate.

We think this band was trying to dress up as coal miners in MTU colors.   We loved the bearded man in the front wearing a replica of the bridge on his head!

There was an antique car and farm equipment show at the county fairgrounds we also checked out.
